The construction sector in the Kingdom grew by 6.7% in 2014, and double digits are far from impossible in 2015. Despite the impact of the 2012-13 crackdown on illegal workers and the wider impact of oil price decline, the Kingdom’s constructors are expected to transform the skylines of Saudi Arabia’s major cities in the coming years, with current projects including the $21 billion expansion of Mecca’s Grand Mosque, the $7.2 billion expansion of King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, the KAEC north of Jeddah, the 1.1-km tall Kingdom Tower, and the King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh.
